The Memento Australia Awards Touring Exhibition presents a selection of Australia’s best designer mementos from the past 8 years of Memento Australia Awards programs.

The exhibition showcases award winning product designs from some of Australia’s most talented artists, designers and crafts practitioners. The products and designs featured in the exhibition are inspired by diverse aspects of Australian life, land or spirit and are created by Indigenous and non-indigenous artists from urban, regional and remote areas of Australia.

The exhibition is intended to inspire creative people to take up the challenge to develop product for their local tourism market, wherever you might be in Australia. Memento Australia encourages designers to create quality innovative tourism and gift products that can be reliably supplied for sale to domestic and international consumers and as a way of assisting local artists and designers to develop memento concepts for their region, a creative product development workshop can also run in conjunction with this exhibition.

Life Drawing Group

Come along for an evening and experience the atmosphere of drawing from a life model in the gallery environment with a group of artists and enthusiasts.

Most Thursday evenings 6.45 pm -8.45 pm. Please phone the gallery to check.

Cost: $11 per person towards the model fee.

Children's Pottery Classes

Local artist , Bernard Bush conducts pottery classes on the third Wednesday of each month. Each session is themed and instructed with children learning the techniques of hand building in clay. The students make at least two pieces in each session. The works are glazed and fired by Bernard and are ready for collect the following lesson.

The deadline for submitting entry forms for the Pine Rivers Art Awards is coming up quickly.
Entry forms for all categories are due in by March 14.

All categories open to residents of Caboolture shire, Pine Rivers shire and Redcliffe City in 2008.

Category 1- Photography/2D Digital Art/Computer Art only open to residents of Caboolture and Pine Rivers Shire Councils and Redcliffe City Council
· 1st prize $1000 non acquisitive

Category 2- 2D works open to all artists regardless of where they reside
· 1st prize $5,000 Pine Rivers Annual Art Award non acquisitive
· Merit Certificate
Category 3 - 3D works only open to all residents of Caboolture and Pine Rivers Shire Councils and Redcliffe City Council
· 1st prize $1000 non acquisitive
· Merit Certificate
Category 4 – Special Photography/2D Digital Art/Computer Art Prize “Memories of Pine” for an artwork depicting people, places or an event in the Pine Rivers Shire only open to residents of Caboolture and Pine Rivers Shire Councils and Redcliffe City Council
· 1st prize $500 acquisitive
· Merit Certificate

Pre-selected artists and finalists will be selected by a panel and notified in late April.

‘Many Voices - Common Thread’

An exhibition of

creative embroiderers, felt makers, weavers, silk painters and art quilters from South-East Queensland.

About the Exhibition

Twelve members from the Textile Art Group, formed at the end of 1980, have come together to form this exhibition. The group, originally formed by Cynthia Morgan, was in response to a need she saw for a constructive craft criticism group. The group met four times yearly with an independent critic invited to review their work.

Twenty seven years later this talented and creative group of award winning textile artists bring with them not only a long history and love for design, colour, texture and fabric, but collectively they also bring an impressive list of prizes.

The inspirations for their textiles come from their responses to the world around them. From memories of glorious sunsets to interesting rock formations and twisted patterns of the branching boab trees they transform their ideas into art quilts, cushions and canvases.

Many have exhibited nationally and internationally and are represented in private collections throughout the globe. Several of the exhibitors also teach quilt making and textiles. work.
They see the passing on of their knowledge as a way to unlock the door of personal creativity for their students.

Elaine Campbell, Lorraine Carthew, Muriel Coulton, Sue Dennis, Noeleen Fleming, Helen Forrest, Bernadine Hine, Joyce Hyam, Barbara McIntyre, Cynthia Morgan, Joan Morrison and Frances Robinson

Origami Club

Have you ever wanted to learn how to fold an origami crane or maybe something more challenging?

The Gallery will be launching Origami Club on the first Saturday of each month. The session will run from 1.00pm to 2.00pm and is FREE. Origami paper packs are available for purchase at the gallery shop or you can bring your own.

"Origami enthusiast" Tracey Wallace, who has been folding since she was eight years old, will be facilitating the sessions. Origami Club welcomes children and adults.The first session starts in April. For more details contact the gallery on 3480 6941.

A collection of works by David Howard including paintings and works on paper.

"I think, that what we believe, whether we know it or not, will ultimately become apparent as we live out our lives. Although, this externalisation of our deepest motivation maybe veiled and contradictive at times, it will manifest itself in all that we do.

Art is an outworking of our inner lives, and so reflects our beliefs. Although, the message and signal may be weak, the most abstract or naive artworks have something to say.
This exhibition analyses belief and influences underlying my own paintings and drawings, by deconstructing and discussing the works, through the medium of a journal as posted to a
Web Log (Blog)".
